In Memory of Deputy Sheriff Michael Magli

Deputy Sheriff Michael Magli was struck and killed by a drunk driver who fled at a high rate of speed after a sheriff sergeant attempted to stop him. Deputy Magli was preparing to deploy stop sticks when the driver lost control, overturned, and struck him. Deputy Magli was pinned beneath his patrol vehicle and succumbed to his injuries. The subject was arrested.
Deputy Magli began his career with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office as a part-time Criminal Justice Specialist and in 2014 gained appointment as a deputy assigned to the Patrol Operations Bureau. Deputy Magli is the first line of duty death in the 109-year history of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Magli is survived by his wife, two children, and parents. He was 30 years old.
